A gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state 2021 poll, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has said his ambition to govern the state was targeted at repositioning the state and uplifting the SouthEast region.
The immediate past President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria plc, who disclosed this in Awka, posited that Anambra state was richly endowed with natural and human resources which if well harnessed would help to drive regional development and integration.
He urged the support of the party delegates and electorate to realise his dream of governing Anambra under the platform of PDP, which according to him, was the party with capacity to rescue the state from maladministration and other challenges.
“This is a journey. This is a mission we just began. Anambra people are very industrious. We have entrepreneurial skills, and other resources to be harnessed.
Anambra state is playing a unique position in Igbo land. For a practical example, if you fix Onitsha, you have touched several homes in Igbo land. If you have knowledge of the number of Igbo people from all parts of South East states trading at Onitsha, you will know what I mean. I have the capacity to drive South East regional development and integration. Part of my responsibility when I succeed is to uplift the SouthEast region.
“We must perceive it. We must dream about it. We must execute it and … The truth is. I have traversed several communities in Anambra state. I have heard their lamentations. I am in this project for a number of reasons. I am in this because I am uncomfortable with the statuesque. I am in this because I feel we deserved a lot better. I am in this because we need to change our story for good. I am in this because I have to inspire professionals to get into politics. I am in this to change the bad names associated with politics. I want to be an answer to people’s prayers. I am convinced that we have the capacity to bring a positive change. With God by our sides, we shall be the answer to people’s prayers,” he added.
Earlier, a member of his campaign team and former member representing Anaocha, Njikoka, Dunukofia federal constituency, Hon. Valentine Ayika, while assuring that the PDP was united and well positioned to sack the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), charged the media to keep playing their constitutional role, for the betterment of the country.
