2023: 2 guber candidates step down for Jandor in Lagos

Two governorship candidates for the 2023 governorship election in Lagos state, Mrs Abiola Adeyemi of African Peoples Party, (APP), and Adenipebi Adekunle of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) have resolved to step down from the race and support the candidate of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Olajide Adediran, aka Jandor.

Also, leaders and members of other political parties, under the aegis of Conference of Registered and Deregistered Political Parties (CPP), a co-political group that spread across the state with structures in 20 local government areas  and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), have decided to support Jandor.

Expressing the desire to work for him, the chairman of the CPP, Dr. Akin Badmus, said the decision to support the PDP candidate was because  the All Progressives Congress (APC) that has ruled the state for many years has denied the state of many basic amenities.

“CPP’s decision became imperative following the dearth of dividends of democracy in the state and the need to unite with the main opposition party to unseat the ruling APC.”

Badmus, who is also the Lagos state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), said the co-political group, spread across the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas, had resolved to throw their weights behind Adediran and the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Badmus said: “Looking at the robust economy of Lagos state with the highest internally generated revenue in Nigeria, the dividend of democracy in Lagos is nothing to write home about compared to her robust economy, population, and revenue.
“It is a fact that the cost of living in Lagos is very high with revenue that does not reflect in the development of Lagos state.”
