2023: Atiku more nationalist than Tinubu – APC chieftain

A two terms member of the Bauchi state House of Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Aminu Tukur has commented on the two speculated presidential aspirants in the 2023 elections; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Lagos state governor Bola Tinubu opining that Atiku is more nationalist than Tinubu.

Tukur who made the assertion in an interview with journalists in his residence over the weekend said he would be happy if the former Vice President joins the APC and gets its presidential ticket in 2023.

Buttressing his points, the APC chieftain said Atiku is a detrablized Nigerian who married among the three major tribes of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba alleging that Mr Tinubu is a regional champion.

“If Atiku will join the APC, I will be the most pleased, I will be the most pleased to have him on the platform of the APC, it will become very easy for me to campaign and canvass support for him.

“Atiku  is more of a national figure than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have several reasons to say that. You know, you will come to appreciate that Atiku is knitted all over the country. He is somebody who has married across ethnic diversity of this country and that is a plus to him.

“Moreso, I will appreciate to have somebody from the northeast of this country, yes, enough of the northwest. Northwest has ruled Nigeria for decades”. He stated.

The former lawmaker berated Mr Tinubu for not intervening in the tribal clashes in the south west between Yorubas and Hausas saying as an influential figure in the region, Tinubu could stop ‘attacks on northerners’ there.

“Now, come to think of the kind of harassment and intimidation that is currently ravaging the entire southwest against the northern people. It started with the Fulanis then subsequently it became all over that anybody northerner is not even needed to be seen in the southwestern part of this country.

“Tinubu being a figure that is being respected by the Yorubas, where has he been to? Have we seen him standing in public squares, condemning the activities of his kinsmen? He decried.
