2023: Atiku’s allies float new group to capture South-west


Allies of former Vice President and presidential candidate of of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have unveiled a new group on the aiges of Atiku People United (APU), purposely to rally support for their candidate in 2023.

The meeting which held Tuesday in Lagos state, had 10 representatives eqch from the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in South-west in attendance.

A statement released Thursday in Abuja and signed on behalf of the coordinating council by Pastor Kayode Jacobs, said the South-west PDP Secretary and coordinating leader of the group, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, commended the participants for the huge turnout at very short notice.

He explained why the movement must run with distinct identity.

According to him, there are too many people doing too many things for Atiku/Okowa, “but we must identify and know those who can do the work and deliver the votes for PDP. To us getting the votes is paramount, every other ceremonies come after.”

While unveiling the name and logo of the group, Dr. Babs Akinlolu, a United States of America based finance expert said the South-west will miss it if they vote wrongly.

“This is the time to Vote Atiku, as one good turn deserves another. Apart from the fact that he once stepped down for Southwest, he is married to a Yoruba woman, Alhaja Titilayo Atiku and he is a man who believes in devolution of power, also being Southwest agenda and aspiration for many years,” Akinlolu said

In his message delivered by Pastor Kayode Jacobs, Chief Dapo Sarumi’ said, Atiku People United “is a movement of friends and patriots who believe in a unified, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”

He said: “This is the time to bond and be strong together to rescue our Nation from obvious and unacceptable failure.”

The coordinating leader, Hon. Owokoniran Rahman, admonished the participants to put the past behind and work together for the sake of the nation.

“I am happy that every interest in PDP Lagos is represented here. The process of Lagos PDP consolidation has started. Please take the message of Unity to the wards and units and let them know that United we now stand for Atiku to rescue and unify Nigeria.”
