2023 census: Bauchi NPC begins e-recruitment, birth registration

The National Population Commission (NPC) in Bauchi state, Friday, announced the commencement of e-recruitment and birth registration as part of preparations for the conduct of the 2023 population and housing census.

NPC’s Federal Commissioner in the state, Ibrahim Muhammad Darazo, at a press briefing held at the commission’s headquarters in Bauchi, said the e-birth registration exercise would be conducted during supplementary immunisation activities in various health facilities across the state.

He stated that the commission would in the process of the recruitment exercise, engage personnel as facilitators, field coordinators, data quality managers, quality assurance assistants, supervisors and enumerators among others for proper coordination.

“As you are all aware, preparations for the conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census are in top gear and as part of efforts to deliver a credible and reliable census, the Commission is committed to ensuring that the results of the census are acceptable to Nigerians and the quality of the data to be generated meets international best standards for planning and developmental purposes.

“This press briefing is to intimate the good people of Bauchi state that the National Population Commission, as part of plans for the 2023 population and housing census, will commence e-recruitment and birth registration. All these exercises will be conducted online for transparency and accountability,” he said.

Darazo, who warned prospective applicants against multiple recruitment registration as such would attract penalties, solicited for the support of all the relevant stakeholders for hitch-free 2023 national population and housing census.

According to him, in line with the United Nations’ principles and recommendations for the 2020 rounds of population and housing census, the 2023 census will be fully digitalised and that the commission has already deployed technology to conduct the exercise and enhance data quality.
