2023 census: NPC gives fresh details on e-recruitment portal

The federal commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Niger state, Malam Dattijo Usman, has given the assurance that adequate measures had been put in place for the safety of its personnel and ad-hoc staff during the 2023 census as the commission open e-recruitment portal in the state.

Usman stated this on Friday in a press conference in Minna.

According to him, the Commission is working in synergy with all security agencies to ensure safety of ad-hoc staff during the exercise.

He said the Commission had also taken measures to block hackers from the e- recruitment exercise, adding that “we have improved on the firewall of our e- recruitment portal which will make it impossible for hackers to penetrate.”

The federal commissioner said the recruitment would be transparent and honest, adding that “the exercise will dispel any doubt or misgiving about the credibility of the portal.”

He said “to us the commission, the quality of staff that will perform the census activities is very important, more so that the Commission is conducting a fully digital census for the first time in the history of census taking in the country.”

He assured that the bulk of personnel for the 2023 census will be drawn from the communities where they are resident, adding that this is to ensure understanding of local languages.
