2023 census: NPC tasks traditional rulers on sensitisation

The National Population Commission (NPC) has appealed to traditional rulers to step up sensitisation programmes in their domains for the census exercise scheduled to hold in March and April, 2023.

The Federal Commissioner of NPC in charge of Kogi state, Professor Isah  Jimoh, made the appeal Sunday while interacting with newsmen on the preparedness of the commission towards the 2023 census exercise.

He said traditional rulers have significant roles to play in ensuring that adequate information reaches the people at the grassroots to enable them respond accurately to questions that will be put before them by the census enumerators.

“To this effect, we have visited traditional rulers in Kogi east, central and western senatorial district and they are ready to cooperate with the commission to sensitise the grassroots on the need to present themselves for the census,” he said.

The federal commissioner also stated that the era of census manipulation where politicians and other interested group manipulate the exercise is over.
