An independent campaign group for the emergence of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the 2023 Presidential election on the aiges of Grand Alliance for Tinubu-Shettima 2023 (GATS-2023), has said Nigerians will place emphasis on the political attestations of various presidential candidates in arriving at their choice in the 2023 election.
In a statement sent to Blueprint from London Thursday by the group’s Director General, Engr. Raji Kazeem Kolawole, said Nigerian voters will go beyond mundane considerations like religion, ethnicity, and sensational promisory notes.
According to Kolawole, Nigerians have learnt their lessons from voting candidates based on primordial sentiments and emotional cogitation of tribe and religion, that using emotional factors to vote candidates into office in the past have left the country in the present comatose state is not a subject of scrutiny for true lovers of the Nigerian project.
“We are convinced beyond all shadows of doubt that Nigerians will stick with competence and proven track records of various presidential candidates in making their choice of candidate, to support and vote for, in the 2023 election, rather than other mundane considerations like religion, ethnicity, and sensational promisory notes.
“We are of reassured confidence that Nigerians will consider past performances and political records of various actors aspiring for the Number One office in the land.
“To this extent, Nigerians will interrogate diligently the capacity based on proven past capabilities of the gladiators in the race to Aso Rock come 2023”, the statement stated.
The group believed that once the parameter of competence ranks highest in the components of factors for consideration, then the APC Presidential ticket of Tinubu-Shettima is as good as emerging victorious in the presidential race.
“Rather than the exaggerated promissory notes being churned out by other presidential candidates, the Tinubu-Shettima ticket has a rich pedigree of exceptional exploits when saddled with apex positions at various levels in the country in the past. The exemplary accomplishments of Asiwaju Tinubu as Lagos State Governor are there for all to explore”, it stressed.
It will be recalled that the decadence and infrastructural decay of public utilities accounted for the movement of the Federal Capital from Lagos to Abuja by the Alhaji Shehu Shagari-led Administration in 1983. By 1999, when Tinubu took over the mantle of leadership in the state, the state was at the verge of total collapse. It took the managerial ingenuity of Tinubu to turn things around and rejuvenated the state from the postrate juncture.
“From a state with an IGR of N600 Million monthly, Tinubu turned Lagos to the 5th largest economy in Africa and the 1st in the West Africa sub-region with a whooping N55 Billion monthly IGR. This is not unexpected of a first class brain in Business Administration with specialisation in Accounting from the prestigious Chicago State University.
“Asiwaju’s ingenuity also brought about the transformation of the hitherto problematic Atlantic Ocean into a multi-dollar earning natural asset. “The intellectual capacity of Senator Kashim Shettima is unrivalled even among Presidential candidates of other political parties. The group remained positive that with these laudable credentials, among numerous others, of APC President ticket, Nigerians will not hesitate to give them bountiful votes for their victory come 2023.
“It is our fervent belief that Nigerians in their millions will come out in support of the APC Presidential ticket and will entrust them with the leadership position of the country,” it concluded.
