2023 election: Which path to follow?

The 2023 presidential election has been a major discourse across the country. Nigerians seem to be in dilemma over who to cast their votes for. The candidates desirous of ruling Nigeria appear to be desperate .

During the presidential campaign of 2015, the current President Muhammadu Buhari promised Nigerians heaven on earth.

One of the promises by Buhari was that he will put an end to insecurity, particularly the Boko Haram insurgency, which has been ravaging the country for over a decade, leaving hundreds of thousands dead and millions of others displaced.

As a retired general, we were optimistic that killing of hapless Nigerians will be a thing of the past. Unfortunately it’s now worse. Some other promises that are breached are: free education, provision of critical infrastructure like roads, electricity,, among others.

The three major contestants vying for the presidential seat will also use the strategy of facts concealing and making promises that will never be fulfilled.

Where is the good path to follow? Which path will beget good governance? Will voting for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) rekindle the hope of Nigerians ? Shall we forget the agony we are experiencing if Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, wins? Will the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar put end to the pains of the people?

The answer to these questions is to look up to God to direct us the right way and give Nigeria a good president who will turn around her fortunes and propel growth and development.
