2023 elections: Maiduguri agog as Zulum campaigns in 5 wards

A massive crowd of supporters trouped out Tuesday afternoon across five wards of the highly populated Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) during Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s campaigns for the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of February 25th presidential and National Assembly elections.

APC’s chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, said the massive crowd was a display of Borno people’s love for Governor Zulum and their desire to elect all APC candidates in the coming election.

The chairman noted that the huge turnout was the result of Governor Zulum’s unprecedented developmental projects, policies and programs that had  direct bearing on the lives of the people.

Zulum’s five-ward tour started at Fezzan ward and then to Shehuri South, Limanti, and Gamboru Liberty before ending at Shehuri North ward.

At one of the venues, Governor Zulum stated what he hopes to be his focus when elected for second term.

“In the last three and half years, despite the successes we have made, my administration’s priority focused more on security, reconstruction and resettlement of destroyed communities,” Zulum stated.

“Now that the security has improved, in sha Allah, we will refocus on job creation, youth and women empowerment among other things.” Zulum said.

The governor urged supporters to vote for all APC candidates starting from the presidential and National Assembly elections on the 25th of February and the governorship and state assembly election on the 11th of March this year.

“I most respectfully urge you all to go out on election days and vote for the APC right from the president down to the state assembly. Let me draw your attention to the fact that this election is different from the previous ones. All of you are aware that our son, Kashim Shettima, is the vice presidential candidate of APC. Therefore we should come out en mass to vote for the APC.” Zulum said.

The campaigns were attended by Borno Central Senatorial Candidate, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan, member representing MMC at the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Rahis, who is seeking reelection, House of Assembly member for Maiduguri Metropolitan, Alhaji Ali Kotoko also for reelection amongst other stakeholders.

The candidates expressed confidence that APC will retain all seats as they did in previous elections.
