2023: Folarin is Tinubu’s preferred APC candidate – Senator Kekemeke

All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West Senator Isaac Kekemeke on Thursday said Senator Teslim Folarin is the preferred 2023 governorship candidate of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Senator Kekemeke who stated this in Ibadan while addressing APC Chairmen from across the South West states.described as false, statement credited to the Accord Party governorship candidate in the state Chief Adebayo Adelabu that Asiwaju is aware of his defection from APC to Accord Party.

The APC Chairman for South West pointed out that, “it is unthinkable for anyone to say the presidential candidate of the APC will support another governorship aspirant in the state.”

“It is unthinkable and ‘un-Asiwaju to do such thing. Like you all know, our candidate in Oyo state is Sen. Teslim Folarin and that is Asiwaju’s preferred candidate”, he said.

Senator Kekemeke added, “nobody should drop Asiwaju’s name in a bid to sell him or herself. To us in the party, from Abuja to the southwest to the state level, Sen. Folarin is our candidate and he is the one all of us would support in the election.”

On the on going reconciliation exercise in Oyo state APC, Senator Kekemeke said the party is making progress with the reconciliation and that peace is gradually returning to the party in the state

“Luckily, I met the chairman of the reconciliation committee, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, and he told me about how far they have gone. I know we are almost getting there, peace is gradually returning,” he said.

Speaking on Muslim-Muslim ticket, Senator Kekemeke declared that what Nigerians are yearning for is a pan-Nigeria president and not of religion. 

“I am a Christian and I don’t have issue with it,” he said.
