2023: Igbo residents in north advocate unity to produce Buhari’s successor

The Igbo residents in the northern parts of the country have called for unity and more political awareness among the people with a view to producing the next Nigeria president in 2023 general election. The President General, Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA), Kaduna state branch, Bar. Chris Nnoli, who made the call in an interview with Blueprint in Awka, the Anambra state capital, said his people were qualified and had the wherewithal to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.  “For their to be development in all level there is need for our people to be given an opportunity to produce a President of this great country. But we cannot achieve it if we are not  up and doing in politics.

We must be in to determine what we want. Our politicians should know what the constitution of their political parties are and get involved in all processes. You don’t sit in the fence and expect power to be given to you. Politics is about numbers. About what you do.
“You must strive to be fully involved in all election. We have the population but most times our people are less concerned. This is not good. If this party was in power yesterday but no longer in power today, there is need to renegotiate. Every ethnic group should be given a sense of belonging. For peaceful coexistence, unity and development of every aspect of this country. We must be considered,” he added.

Nnoli, who is also the Deputy President General (Northwest) of IDA, comprising Igbo residents in 19 northern states and affiliated to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, further passed vote of confidence on Chief Nnia Nwodo-led leadership, and urged youths not to allow selves to be used in destabilising the apex sociocultural group.

Blueprint recalls that a splinter group of Ohanaeze Ndigbo headed by a youth, Barr. Basil Onyeachoram, as President General was recently registered with Corporate Affairs Commission, which later on, allegedly deregistered it as well.
