2023: I’m committed to peaceful elections – Al-Makura

The senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial zone, Umaru Al-Makura, has said he is committed to peace accord and in support of seamless election in the state.

He stated this, Thursday, shortly after the signing of the peace accord by various political parties organises by INEC at De Crown Hotel, Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

He said the importance of peace in any process could not be over emphasized and urged supporters to embrace peace.

Al-Makura stated further that the signing of the peace accord was aimed at ensuring peace before, during and after the election.

He said no meaningful development could thrive in an environment of war, violence, crises and conflicts.

He said where there is peace, there is meaningful development.

“Failure to do that would not be fair to us and to the exercise.

“Every supporter who believed in his principal should emerges must conform to the peace accord. By our singning today, it is automatic that all our supporters are committed to this accord,” he said.

Al-Makura however congratulated the leadership of INEC for the ingenious initiative towards ensuring free, fair and credible election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Nasarawa state, Dr. Uthman Ajidagaba, enjoined all the political parties and their members to ensure that the spirit of the peace pact remain sacred in their hearts AND assured them of free, fair and credible election.
