2023 Imo governorship election: Uzodinma dumps deputy, picks female running mate

Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma, has settled for Nnedinma Ekomaru, a female lawyer, as his running mate for the upcoming 2023 governorship election in the state.

Uzodimma settled for Barr. Ekomaru after initially proposing Engr. Ralph Nwosu, the Commissioner for Works, as a temporary option, leading to widespread speculation and lobbying for the position.

Ekomaru, who has been practicing law for over two decades, is married to Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

She hails from the Umunoha community in Mbaitoli local government area of the state.

Blueprint also learnt that the formal submission of Barr. Ekomaru’s name as Uzodimma’s running mate has been made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja.
