2023: INEC embarks on familiarisation visit to security chiefs in Yobe

The Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) Yobe state has embarked on familiarisation visits to security chiefs in Yob state.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullah, while at the headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai and Nigerian Police Command in Damaturu said, the visit is to know each other and discuss important issues with the security chiefs in the state.

The INEC resident’s commissioner appreciated the role military and police played in the conduct of every election in the stayr.

He said military and Police are the stakeholders that INEC needs to hold  successful election.

“We need everybody to participate and where the environment isn’t secured there will not be fair. Any election that is not inclusive isn’t credible because everybody has right and must not be disenfranchised”.

“Security is very important, even though the police are the lead security agent but we are always seeking everybody’s support to complement their efforts,” he said.

The Sector 2 theatre commander, Maj-Gen Koko Akamba Isoni and Yobe State Commissioner of Police CP Haruna G Garba assured the INEC that they are ready to support and collaborate with them towards the success of the 2023 general election.
