2023: Kebbi APC tips Malami for president

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kebbi North/South senatorial districts, agitating for the zoning of governorship of Kebbi state to the two zones, have advised the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, to drop his governorship ambition and go for president.

Speaking to journalists Tuesday in Argungu shortly after an emergency meeting of stakeholders of the two zones, the Public Relations officer of the group, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Lamba, said the two zones has been sidelined by the central zone which has since the advent of the democracy in 1999, been producing governors.

According to him, “it is high time the central allowed the other zones to produce a governor in order to ensure equity and justice as well as to respect democratic processes.”

Lamba, however, explained that the two zones that comprises Yauri and Zuru were known for their patience for barely two decades, and are now clamouring to have a chance.

He said though the Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami who hailed from the Central zone had not made his ambition known but rumours has it that he wants to vie for governor.

“I want to on behalf of this coalition advice him to opt for presidency instead of governor.”

Lamba further said that “knowing the calibre of person the minister is and the position he presently occupies, we believe the minister would be more suitable for presidency,” he added.

The group also declared that the two zones were still loyal to the APC and would continue to assiduously work for its success at all levels.
