2023: Nasiriyya disowns el-Rufai’s presidential campaign office, blames opposition

Nasiriyya of Nigeria has disclaimed el-Rufai presidential campaign office recently opened in Jos, Plateau state capital, noting that it is handiwork of opposition and detractors who want to inhibit his good work.

The umbrella organisation for other Nasiriyya outfits, established to profess, advocate and support the political ideology of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, said that it was not time for campaign for 2023, as the governor was busy with his campaign promise of making Kaduna great again and would not welcome any distraction that would stop him from achieving his objectives.

Nasiriyya of Nigeria National Director, political awareness and mass mobilisation, Hon. Babangida Ibrahim Gombe, and North East Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Alhassan Adamu Umar, in a joint press briefing on Monday in Kaduna told correspondents that the presidential campaign office aimed at distracting el-Rufai, while urging the public to be wary of such people as they don’t mean well for Nigeria.

“The attention of Nasiriyya of Nigeria has been drawn to an online publication with caption “el-Rufai Begins Campaign for 2023, Ally Opens Office in Jos”. The Nasiriyya of Nigeria, the umbrella body of Nasiriyya Foundation, Nasiriyya Movement, Nasiriyya Vanguard, Nasiriyya Network and Nasiriyya Media Organization, wishes to dissociate itself from whoever is behind the opening of the so-called campaign office in Jos.

“We are very much aware that, politicians, threatened by el-Rufai’s growing number of followers and popularity, especially among the progressives, are behind this to achieve a failed devilish aim. It is the work of those who are not happy with the good work el-Rufai is doing in Kaduna and the goodwill he enjoys across the country, thus they want to stop him.

“We align with the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole that those behind the said campaign office are not APC but PDP trying to cause confusion and distraction. We are law abiding people and the electoral law has yet to flag-off commencement of campaigns.

“We hereby urge the general public to ignore and discountenance such action. It should be noted that anything that has to do with the 2023 presidency is not in our immediate agenda. Therefore, using the name of The Nasiriyya to start 2023 campaign is fraudulent, mischievous, malicious, vexatious and misleading.

“El-Rufai is continuing with his promise of making Kaduna great again. Now is not time for campaign but time for work and we urge our leader, Governor Nasir el-Rufai not to allow the detractors distract him but to continue with his giant strides in education, health, infrastructure, security, potable water and setting standards in governance, ” they said.
