2023: PDP urges electorate to unite, reclaim Imo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state has urged the people to use the occasion of 2023 New Year celebrations to unite and rededicate themselves to the ideals of good governance, peace and progress for which Imo state was known.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the state Publicity Secretary, Collins  Opuruzor, PDP said, “This year offers the people the long-awaited opportunity to defeat the  misrule in the state and take back Imo from the hands of corrupt, bloodthirsty, selfish and clueless rulers.

“Our party notes that, looking back at the events of the past years in Imo, the people have reasons to sincerely give thanks to God for keeping them safe from the rampages and ravages of the unelected APC government of Senator Hope Uzodinma which has brought nothing but mass misery and killings of genocidal proportion to the land.”

Opuruozor maintained that real the incomes of Imo residents crashed completely as the regime of Senator Uzodimma allegedly denied workers their pay and stifled all sources of livelihood.

He added that multiple taxations were imposed to further strip away the people’s purchasing power, yet, the regime frittered away common patrimony through dubious contract claims and outright diversion of public funds, and finally transformed Imo into the highest concentration of unemployed people in the entire sub-Saharan Africa and a miserable debt-ridden entity.

He urged Imo people to remember in their prayers of grace and miracle of cross-over those Imolites killed in the face of the horror unleashed day after day due mainly to the failure of governance, adding that mortuaries in Imo were saturated with corpses to the extent that the Federal Medical Center Owerri announced that they would no longer accept corpses for want of space.
