2023: Popular Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, backs Peter Obi

Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has described himself as “Obi-centric”.

This is coming after he recently dumped the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) over its decision to present a Muslim-Muslim candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

In a recent interview with Arise TV, the movie star endorsed another name used by followers of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

On where his support lies ahead of the 2023 elections, Okonkwo described himself as “Obi-centric.”

“I’m not contemplating on joining any party yet. A northern friend from Kano told me to join the Obi movement. This is a northern Muslim talking. Saying northern Muslims won’t support Christians is a false statement,” he said.

“That is the problem with bringing Octogeneraians to manage your party and the affairs of government. I’m Obi-centric but I’ve not joined any party. It’s the ticket that gave me the youthful energy needed to change Nigeria.”

When asked what he thought about the notion by the APC that the Labour Party is only popular on social media, the lawyer said the party made those statements because they are rattled by Obi’s candidacy.

“Do you remember when APC was campaigning during the 2015 general elections? They were the Internet sensation. Why are they crying if it is not making any impact? Stimulating the attention of people is the first thing you have to do when you want to market a product. The Labour party is doing it very well that is why those people are rattled,” he said.
