2023: Ugwuanyi inaugurates PDP campaign council, tells members what to do

Enugu state governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Tuesday, inaugurated the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council, urging them to go all out to deliver the PDP candidates in the forthcoming polls.

Ugwuanyi while inaugurating the members of the council ahead of the 2023 general elections in Enugu, expressed confidence that the PDP was sure of landslide victory in the state following the intimidating credentials and general acceptability of the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Mbah among the electorate.

According to him, the PDP government has performed creditably well in the past 20 years insisting that his administration has performed beyond the general expectations of the people.

Ugwuanyi, who charged the campaign council as well as all the members of the party to see it as their responsibility to the campaign in all the nooks and crannies of the state, further urged them to be peaceful, law-abiding and civil in their activities even as it is customary of the party to show decorum.

He said, “It is my pleasure to be here on this special occasion of the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Organisation in Enugu state. Our great party, PDP, has enjoyed the overwhelming support and kind consideration of the good people of the state in the past two decades. Ndi Enugu have consistently voted for PDP in all elections since the return of the democratic dispensation.

“This show of love, unflinching support and committed solidarity have been the wind in the sail of our party, PDP in the state.

“The PDP government in Enugu state has also strived to fulfill our contract with the people within the limit of available resources.

“The 2023 political calendar has long begun and INEC had long lifted the ban on electioneering campaigns.

“Correspondingly, the constitution and inauguration of the campaign organisation that will effectively drive our campaign for the victory of all our candidates in the 2023 general elections have become a compelling necessity.

“Our party has constituted a robust state campaign organization under the formidable leadership of Chief Ikeje Asogwa; the former State Chairman of our great party, as the Director General.

“The organisation, populated at different strata, with battle-tested, competent and experienced politicians, will ensure that all our candidates achieve early and comfortably win in the 2023 polls. I congratulate the Director General and all members of this organization selected for this onerous task.

“While reminding all our teeming party members that we are in this together, we must campaign for our party in our political wards, communities as politics is, indeed, local. When we win all the polling units in our ward, our ward is won. When we will win  all the wards in our local government area, our local government area is won. When we win all the local government areas, our state is finally won. Therefore, in reality, it’s everybody’s business to sell our party.

“It is also my expectation that our campaign will leverage the stellar performance of the current PDP government in our state, the goodwill of our great party, PDP, and the intimidating credentials and general acceptability of the flagbearer of our party to achieve landslide victory for all of them in the 2023 general elections.”

In his vote of thanks, the party’s campaign Director General, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, appreciated the party for the opportunity and privilege given to them to serve and lead the campaign body.

Asogwa, who described the campaign council members as Field Marshals, maintained that they were going to deliver on the mandate before them.
