2023 UTME: Oloyede tasks tertiary institutions on credible admission

Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ish’aq  Oloyede, has called on heads of higher institutions in the country to ensure that their admission process is credible and the results valid.

Professor Oloyede gave the charge at the maiden Matriculation/Capping Ceremony of the Department of Nursing Education, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun state recently.

This was contained in a statement made available to Blueprint Monday by JAMB’s head of Publicity and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

Oloyede, who was represented by the Osun state coordinator, Mr. Babatunde Jacob, said the primary purpose of introducing the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) in 2017 was to do away with primordial procedures in the admission processes.

“It is disheartening today to still see some institutions opting for the crooked option that lacks transparency or accountability through undisclosed admissions.

“The board had agreed to retroactively condone the admissions of candidates who were offered secret admissions by some tertiary institutions from 2017 to 2021 sequel to the noble intervention of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

He, therefore, urged erring institutions to desist from such ignoble practices and comply with the board.
