2023: Yoruba group backs South-east to produce next president

A Yoruba group under the auspices of Igbo for President Solidarity Congress (IPSC) Tuesday demanded that the next Nigerian president should come from the South-east come 2023.

Addressing a press conference at the Oyo state NUJ Press Centre in Ibadan, national president of the group, Dr Olukayode Oshin-Ariyo, declared that the time is now for power to shift to South-east geo-political zone in 2023.

According to the group, “For the sake of peace, unity, justice and equity, we wholeheartedly support Nigerian president of Igbo extraction come 2023.”

The group stressed that “a man or woman of Igbo extraction as Nigerian president will be a nationalist, cerebral leader with analytical mind to proffer surest solution to multi dimensional socio-economic and political challenges confronting Nigeria as a nation.”

“We believe that a man or woman of Igbo extraction as Nigerian president will restore glory and bring honour to our dear country, to regain her enviable position as the Giant of Africa. Igbo have availed to the Yoruba their entrepreneurial spirit by transforming South-west economy over the years and immensely to the zone’s gross domestic product (GDP),” the group said.

“For equity, peace and justice, President Muhammadu Buhari as a nationalist should write his name with inedible ink by handing over power in 2023 to Igbo man or woman as Nigerian President,” the group pleaded.
