The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has alleged that cabal in Presidency are mounting pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to campaign despite his ill health.
Secondus stated this at the Inauguration of 27 Sub-committees of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, at the PDP campaign headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
He said “Our country is in distress. It requires the prayers of our leaders and Nigerians because we are gradually sliding unless God intervenes. Our country is sliding into anarchy. People would be arrested without a cause; some leaders will be framed up, particularly the case of Senator Dino Melaye who is being detained without no just cause.
Secondus who also accused the APC of trying to cripple or destabilise the nation, expressed concern that, “We are pained about the way the cabal is mounting pressure on the President. You are aware of what happened in Kogi; you are aware of what happened during the interview. You can see that the President is under stress, is under immense pressure from the leadership of the APC.
He queried that, ” the analysis is very straight! Do they want to kill the President? Because they are over working him and you can see the mistakes all over. That interview was a national disgrace.
“What happened in Warri yesterday was another national disgrace. No wonder we are not respected in the comity of nations. And when we say the truth, they say it is hate speech. But some leaders of APC in 2015 could look at our President Jonathan and they will say he was clueless. It is there in the records. They will look at a man with PhD and call him clueless, he said.
He explained that, “the President was at Warri yesterday. Their national chairman handed over a flag to him to give to the governorship candidate in Delta state. He took that flag and said. “I give you this flag of honour to our Presidential candidate.” He was corrected and told that it was gubernatorial. He said no that it was Senatorial. He was corrected again and he now said governatorial candidate. Is that the President that we want?
Secondus expressed concern that, “We are worried that the cabal wants to kill Mr. President because they are not allowing him to rest. That story is for another day.
“The Nigerian public should know so that from now, they can see the clear difference between an energetic and competent candidate ready to become the President with a lot to offer, to turn around the economy of our country in the person of the Waziri of Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and one who has nothing to offer, he added.
He lambasted the leaders of the APC, that “Why can’t Buhari behave like Mandela? One term is enough. If he is doing this way like we are seeing in the videos, what will happen in the next four years? It will be a complete, absolute disaster.
He warned that, ” this election must be free, fair and credible and we therefore congratulate the new IG and ask him to clean up the mess of the former IG. The duty of the police is to protect lives and properties according to the constitution, not to get involved in politics. They should maintain their professionalism. But if they go outside their constitutional responsibility, that is where the crisis will come from. But we will to advise that we don’t want crisis in our country. If you want to avoid crisis, please be neutral.
