The 23 Local Government areas in Kaduna state will be at loggerhead as the 7th Kaduna Sports Festival kicks-off on Tuesday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
The long awaited event, which is expected to provide athletes that would represent Kaduna state at the National Sports Festival scheduled for late November in Delta state, will feature 15 sports from Tuesday November 8 to Saturday November 12, 2022.
According to the Director of Sports Development, Kaduna state Ministry of Sports Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Yakubu, “the athletes from the 23 local government areas will compete in the 15 sports based on the entries from each local government.
“The 15 sports to be completed for are, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Athletics, Chess, Badminton, Squash, Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Kokawa, Dambe, Karate, Boxing and Scrabble.”
Speaking on the state of preparation for the state festival, the DoS said, “so far all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a hitch-free festival, which we expect will produce athletes that will represent Kaduna state at the forthcoming National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta state”.
Yakubu went further to express the commitment of the Ministry of Sports Development to give opportunities to athletes to develop themselves and showcase their sporting talents during the week long festival.
