25: JIBWIS leader Jingir backs Tinubu/Shettima 

The national chairman Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has endorsed the candidature of Senator Ahmad Bola Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming presidential elections.

He said it was his personal interest and firm conviction that informed his decision, but that it doesn’t stop his followers from voting other candidates of their choice.

Sheikh Jingir made the endorsement, Sunday at the closing of the JIBWIS 30th National Annual Seminar, which held at its Science Secondary School, Zaria Road, Jos.

“The executive committee of JIBWIS met and I asked members to make their choices amongst the presidential candidates known.

“Atiku has 73 votes, Tinubu got 13 votes, others said they will go with whatever decision I might take.

“All of the 8 presidential candidates that are Muslims are all mine. They are good people, but I will vote Muslim-Muslim ticket. I will vote for Tinubu, this is my personal decision and you can also go and vote for whoever you wish to vote for,” he said. 

Sheikh Jingir, admonished Senator Tinubu, to be fair and just to all irrespective of religious, tribal or sectional differences, if eventually elected president of the Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Islamic group has in its communiqué, assured that it will maintain its methodology of teaching and preaching in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah to ensure effective religious, moral, economic and social development of the Muslim Ummah.
