3-year-old girl regains freedom 6 days after kidnap in Niger

A three year old baby girl, Fatima Nura, kidnapped about a week ago in Padogeri area of Rafi local government of Niger state has reunited with her family.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger state Police Command, DSP Mohammed Abubakar, stated this yesterday in Minna.
He explained that the baby was released after police detectives swung into action, following complaint lodged by her father, Nura Ayuba that his daughter was kidnapped on 12th of September.
According to the Police spokesman, “On 13th September, 2018 about 1230hrs, one Nura Ayuba ‘m’ of Pandogari village of Rafi LGA reported that on 12th September, about 1300hrs his daughter Fatima Nura ‘f ’ 3 years was kidnapped by unknown person(s).” He said that on receipt of the complaint, a team of police detectives attached to Kagara Division swung into action and arrested one Safiya Idris ‘f ’, 25, of Pandogari village of Rafi LGA.
He said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that some kidnappers tasked her to get a little child for them which she did.
The suspect, according to the PPRO, also confessed that she was offered N5,000 by the kidnappers for rendering the service which facilitated the kidnap of the baby.
He said that efforts were on top gear to arrest the fleeing kidnappers, adding that the child was later released to her parents.
He said “efforts are on top gear to arrest the fleeing suspects, case still under investigation.”
