3000 Civil Defense officers to undergo psychology test in Oyo


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is to conduct psychological assessment/ test for no fewer than 3,000 of the officers in its command. 


NSCDC Commandant in the state, Dr John Oyedokun Adewoye while speaking disclosed that the test which commenced on Friday is  expected to end on Sunday “is in line with the directive of Commandant General, Nigerian Security and Cilvil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mohammed Gana.”


Dr. Adewoye while addressing officers of the command in Ibadan maintained that the test was in fulfillment of the promise of welfare of the staff in relation to the behaviour of officers toward members of the public by the Commandant General and that in Oyo state, the exercise would hold in three centres across Oyo state.

“The personnel in Area ‘A’ and ‘B’ will do the test at Oyo State Command Headquarters, Agodi; Area ‘C’ and ‘E’ will have their test in Oyo, personnel from Area ‘D’ will be at Iseyin and Area ‘F’ Command office at Igboora.’’ he said.


 Disclosing that the psychological test would be conducted by a team of experts headed by Fatoyinbo Oluseyi from the Bahavioural Forensic Unit of the corps, Dr Adewoye said ” the test is aimed at ascertaining the emotional and psychological profiles of personnel, identifying bahavioural tendencies and competencies for professional success, understanding individual personnel’s symptoms in the context of overall functioning and identifying areas of psycho-social needs for appropriate intervention programme.” 

The Oyo state NSCDC Commandant added that the test was “also to produce security personnel who are ethically well grounded, socially conscious of their environment, technically and professionally competent to protect lives and properties of all Nigerians and foreigners without prejudice.


“The psychological evaluation test is a fulfilment of the promise of welfare of the staff in relation to the behavior of officers toward members of the public by the commandant general. The approach is to ensure that is a security operatives who are protecting lives and properties are in good stable mind to carry out this duties without injuring themselves or harassed the members of the public.


Dr Adewoye then implored all officers in the Oyo NSCDC Commandant  to “take the test to ascertain state of mind and to assist us in anyway the organization could make life comfortable for all personnel.”
