300,000 engaged in productive ventures – NDE

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has said that over 300,000 Nigerians have been engaged in productive ventures as a result of its desire to empower women and youth.
NDE Director General, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Laden, who said this recently in his address at the 29th Enugu International Trade Fair, explained that 237,172 persons of the 300,000 are exposed to critical skills and competences, with the multiplier outcome estimated at over 300,000 persons engaged in productive ventures.
“As part of our desire to empower women and youth, the NDE has exposed 237,172 persons to critical skills and competences, with the multiplier outcome estimated at over 300,000 persons engaged in productive ventures.
“For us at the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in carrying out the mandate for job creation, we also situate the directorate’s operations within the main stream of economic restructuring of the current leadership. It is worth mentioning that the directorate in the discharge of its responsibilities, places great emphasis on skills training.
“My appeal to other youths is for them to embrace self-employment as a viable option to self-employment instead of waiting for unavailable paid employment.”
