Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, has graduated 24,283 students out of which 317 came out with distinction. The Rector, Dr. Umar Ahmed Egbako, disclosed this at the weekend at the combined 12th Convocation ceremony of the institution at Zungeru.
He said the best overall graduating student, Mohammed Nura Adamu, of the Department of Business Administration and Management got 3.84 CGPA According to him, 3,483 graduated with upper credit, while 903 with lower credit and 7,580 graduated with pass. Adamu, he added, had also secured admission to study for a master’s degree in management at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom as from September, this year, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) with the assistance of the management of the polytechnic.
Egbako, while congratulating the graduands, enjoined them to put into practical demonstration the intellectual and problem solving skills they had acquired in the course of their academic pursuits in the polytechnic, He said: “You have not only been taught the rudiments of success in various fields but you have also been provided with the necessary skills and tools to succeed in life and also to improve your lot and those of your dependants.
“You are to create employment where none exists, create wealth and further contribute to the growth of the economy. Therefore, as you step out of this great Institution, you must make meaningful impact on the society.”
