38 people lost their lives on Monday after they were drowned in a River in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi state.
Caretaker Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Bappa Abdu Bara disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi where he revealed that the deceased were being transported to their farms in a canoe which capsized in the river leading to the death of 38 out of the 40 passengers in it.
He said only two people survived adding that experts were currently searching for the corpses of the deceased persons.
“We discovered two dead bodies along Badara. We conducted searched in water ways but didn’t find the remaining corpses. We pray Almighty Allah to forgive the souls of the people who lost their lives.” He said.
