4 Jigawa girls drown in Kafin Doki river



Tragedy struck, Monday in Kafin Doki Yamma village of Gwaram local government area of Jigawa state, as four girls got drowned in a river in the morning of the fateful day, sources told our reporter Tuesday evening.

According to the sources, the tragedy occurred around 10:30 am when the deceased children, on trying to cross the small river in Kafin Doki Yamma village on their way to the farm, fell into the deep side of the water.

They deceased:  Balki Harun,17;  Shamsiyya Nuhu, 11; Umii Danlami,
13, and a fourth child whose name could not be identified, were left with no help in the water  from 10:30 am when the incident happened up to 12 midnight  before their corpses could be discovered by members of the fire fighting team dispatched from Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
When contacted, spokesperson of Jigawa state police command, SP Abdul Jinjir, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the emergency unit of the force received calls from Gwaram local government divisional police where the unit was informed about the disaster; and quickly organised a team of officers and men of the force to the scene.

He said no positive result was achieved as the victims all died before they got there.
