A 4-year-old girl has been diagnosed with Vesco Virginia Fistula (VVF) in Ebonyi state after she was allegedly defiled by her father Fidelis Nwangele from Ngbo-Agbaja, Izzi local government area of the state.
Blueprint learnt that Nwangele has been arrested by the state police command while he the girl is currently receiving treatment at National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC) in Abakaliki for repair.
Blueprint investigation further revealed that the act caused quarrel between the man and his wife and when the girl started urinating uncontrollably, the woman reported the matter to the police.
The suspect was arrested on 11th of this month by the police and the man was said to have denied ever having canal knowledge of the girl during investigation into the crime.
But Nwangele’s wife, Uzoamaka and the girl told the police that the man committed the act.
When contacted, the state Police spokesperson, DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident , saying the suspect has been arrested and the victim’s torn stained pant recovered.
Odah, explained that police juvenile welfare centre from Ekumenyi Police Division where the incidence took place initiated preliminary investigation on the matter and recovered the pant and the matter has been transferred to the State CID for further investigation.
“Police JWC initiated preliminary investigation on the matter and recovered the victims stained pant. The suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing. He will be arraigned in the court after investigation”, she said.
