47,000 applicants jostling for 1,000 teaching job in Delta

Over 47,000 applicants have applied for 1,000 teaching job vacancies recently announced by the Delta state government.

The state commissioner for basic and secondary education, Chiedu Ebie said this in Asaba while briefing journalists on the need for the state government to recruit professional teachers.

According to him, “Those to be recruited in first phase of the recruitment exercise will undergo oral interview with micro teaching components as well as Computer Based Test (CBT) for their scores to receive real time.”

He explained that subject experts and specialists have been engaged to generate items and participate in the oral interview and micro teaching sessions.”

Education Commissioner however, said that the recruited teachers are bound to serve in the rural and riverine areas of the state for minimum of five years.

He said the over 1,533 teachers would be trained in Teachers Professional Development Centres (TPDC) programmes, curriculum leadership and implementation strategies.

“This include, 120 directors and assistant directors in MBSE and all our board and agencies as well as Chief inspectors of education, (CIEs).
