5 Labour Party candidates escape death as gunmen invade, burn houses 

Gunmen said to have come in three vehicles, Saturday, burnt no fewer than five houses of the chieftains and relatives of the chieftains of the Labour Party (LP) at Amagu, Ihube community in Okigwe local government area of Imo State.

Blueprint correspondent gathered that the people affected by the attack are the LP candidate for Okigwe State Constituency, Nnaemeka Obiaraeri whose house and cars were burnt, an LP chieftain, Okey Unam, whose whole house and other properties were touched.

Unam, who is the Campaign Director General of Chikwwem Onuoha, who is the LP candidate for Okigwe North Federal Constituency is a former aide to a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim.

Apart from burning the house of the LP candidate, his father’s house, that of his uncle and those of his relatives were touched.

These attacks are coming a few weeks after gunmen invaded the country home of the LP candidate for Onuimo State Constituency, Christopher Elehu, popularly known as Wasco and killed him.

However, the Imo Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Henry Okoye, is yet to react to this incident
