500 ‘Sara-suka’ thugs in Bauchi surrender weapons

Over 500 thugs known as ‘Yan Sara-suka’ in Bauchi have on Thursday surrendered and renounced their act of thuggery and criminality in the state.

They officially surrendered their weapons to the state commissioner of police Habu Sani at a ceremony held at the state police headquarters.

Addressing the repentant thugs, the commissioner of police explained that the repentance by the ex thugs was due to intense pressure and awareness campaign launched by the police Command through gingles on the consequences of their activities.

He said the Command would still open its doors for those who are yet to repent to tow the same line warning that police in the state would never relent in its sustained fight against crimes.

The police commissioner therefore called on the Bauchi State government and other Non Governmental Organizations to come up and assist the ex thugs in capacity building and empowerment in order to better their lives.

“The command equally calls on the youth to go and seek forgiveness of the almighty God, their parents and members of the public,” he urged them.

Also speaking, the state governor Bala Mohammed represented by his Chief of Staff Abubakar Kari lauded the youth for voluntarily surrendering their weapons promising that government will rehabilitate them by organizing skills acquisition trainings.
