51 Gombe varsity graduands bag First Class

 

Fifty-one graduands of Gombe state University have bagged first class degrees in the sixth, seventh, Eight and 9th combined convocation of the institution scheduled for this Saturday.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Umar Ibrahim, disclosed this in Gombe yesterday during a pre-convocation briefing.
He said, of the total number of 3,958 students that graduated from the university, 51 bagged first class, 864 second class upper, 1,945 second class lower, 138 third class, and 60 pass degrees.
Prof Ibrahim said 37 were post graduate diploma and 4 M.Sc in Physics, explaining that those that graduated with third class were admitted in to the university before 2013, because pass degree was abolished in 2013.
He said the convocation holding this Saturday will honour distinguished individuals, including the University Chancellor, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, Emir of Gombe, who will be awarded honorary doctorate degree along with other prominent Nigerians.
The VC said the Emir of Kano, Muhamadu Sunusi, will be delivering the convocation lecture on social reforms.
