53 youths for Nimrod 6-19 volleyball talent hunt  

Up to 53 youth are undergoing rigorous drills to introduce them to the rudiments of volleyball in the maiden Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt which began in Kaduna. 

The talent hunt, which is stipulated for only male players above six feet, and female players not below 1.7 metres from across the country is ongoing at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Speaking to sports writers on the sidelines of the talent hunt, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, said it was organised to bring back the era of tall volleyball players to the national team.

He explained that in the 80s, Nigeria sported tall players above six feet wearing it’s national colours, thus giving them added advantage over other countries with shorter players. He was optimistic.that the outcome will positively assist Nigeria in dominating the sport within a few years.

Also speaking, National U-19 Volleyball coach, Vincent Unogwu, said the players will be groomed under watchful eyes of six experienced instructors. He commended the NBBF President, Engineer Nimrod for bankrolling the talent hunt, which he said would give Nigeria an edge in volleyball in no distant time. 

He said Engineer Nimrod is graciously providing three square meals and transport subsidies to all those that are participating in the talent hunt.
