6 die, 7 injured in Ogbomoso- Ilorin expressway auto-crash

No fewer than 6 people, Sunday met their untimely death in an accident involving a truck and a commercial bus at Abuduka area on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin road in Oyo state.

Also, 7 people were injured and rushed to the Ladoke Akintoka University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital for treatment.

It was learnt that the accident occurred at about 10 a.m. when the driver of the truck lost control when the vehicle (truck) suddenly developed break fault while negotiating a bend.

An eye witness account said it was at this juncture that the truck rammed into a fully loaded 18 seater commercial bus coming behind it resulting in the death of the 6 persons.

The eye witness added that there were others in the commercial bus who were still in coma.

“I am not sure if any of the passengers in the bus can survive though, not all are dead but the ones alive are in coma,” he said.

It was gathered that attempt by the people of Abuduka at apprehending the driver of the truck over the ghastly accident failed as he reportedly forced his way out into a nearby bush and escaped from the area.

The witness said, “When people tried to apprehend the truck driver, he brought out knife threatening to stab anybody who dared move closer before he took to his heel.’’

Confirming the accident, Oyo state FRSC Corps Commander, Mrs Chukwura Uche Chidima, said five male adults and one female adult lost their lives in the accident.
