After 6 months, NASS set to pass N8.612trn 2018 Budget tomorrow

After six months after they received the draft copy of the N8.612 trillion 2018 budget estimates from President Muhammadu Buhari at a joint session on November 7, last year, the National Assembly is set to pass it this week.

An indication to this effect emerged on Thursday last week when the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, disclosed that the Senate will receive the considered estimates of the budget from its Appropriation Committee today for possible passage on Wednesday.

He made the disclosure when playing host to elder statesmen from four out of the six geo-political zones who demanded devolution of powers through Constitution amendments as the way out of the problems confronting the nation.

Saraki, in his response to the demand of the elder statesmen, said: “The Senate will revisit the issue of devolution of powers the moment we finished with the passage of the 2018 Budget, already fixed for next week (this week).”
