64 persons quarantined in Jos North negative – Chair

The caretaker committee chairman of Jos North local government area, Hon. Shehu Usman has said the 64 persons quarantined in Zangon Baki quarantine centre have tested negative to COVID-19 and have been released to rejoin their families.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the council’s Information Officer, Mr. Philip Eplong.

The chairman said, “The suspected persons had tested negative to COVID-19 twice, which was confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).”

Zagon Baki is the isolation centre designated by the local council for patients of the pandemic situated along the Bauchi road.

Hon. Usman disclosed that out of the nine returnees to Jos North, eight tested negative while the remaining number were awaiting second test result.

The chairman said the council was committed to complementing the effort of the state government under the leadership of Governor Simon Lalong.

Usman used the occasion to laud all measures put in place by  Lalong to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state and assured the leader of the rescue team of the council’s readiness to support at all times.

While receiving the almajirai on behalf of their family, Alhaji Lawan Yahaya, alongside an Islamic scholar, Alhaji Rabiu Mohammed, said the returnees were in good condition and pledged their resolve to ensure each child reunites with his family.

Responding separately on behalf of the discharged persons, Mrs. Atika Jamilu, Deborah Yilnap and Rasi Dayyabu, said they were happy to be discharged
