7 reasons Ortom left APC – Aide

The Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, has listed seven major reasons that informed the decision of Governor Ortom to dump APC and join PDP.
In an interview in Makurdi yesterday, Agerzua said some of the reasons included lack of internal democracy within the APC, hijacking of party structure by Senator George Akume and imminent rejection of APC by Nigerians in 2019 owing to its failure to live up to its campaign promises.
Other reason are; federal government’s position on the killings in Benue and other states coupled with the seeming complicity of high ranking security officials, most of who he noted were President Muhamadu Buhari’s kinsmen.
Added to this he said was Senator Akume’s inability to sustain political relationships as well as his inordinate ambition to become the Senate President at the detriment of the Benue people.
He said this development has now forced him into a marriage of convenience with the powers in Abuja using the Anti -Open Grazing Law enacted in Benue to strike a selfish deal in that regard.
The governor’s aide stated that, having consulted with Benuestakeholders, Ortom was giving the nod to dump the APC for the PDP, which, according to him had apologized, rebranded and was now poised towards rescuing the nation from the hands of the APC regime.
He noted that the APC has also failed to meet the aspirations of Nigerians, and that Governor Ortom has uncovered a grand conspiracy by actors in the APC in Benue state and Abuja to frustrate his reelection bid on the platform of the party.
“Governor Ortom left the APC owing to seven major reasons which border on the party’s lack of internal democracy in Benue state, failure in governance, unwarranted killings by Fulani terrorists who would issue out threats, carry same out without anybody inviting them for questioning,” he stated.
“Governor Ortom having consulted with a wide spectrum of Benue stakeholders was advised to leave the party.
The choice of PDP was also a result of careful consultations which revealed that the party was the next party to the APC in terms of strength and spread coupled with the fact that the party had also been rebranded to meet leadership challenges,” he said.
On Akume’s allegations of non performance against the governor, Agerzua described such as laughable and tantamount to giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
He wondered why since 1999, the senator has developed a penchant for turning around to run down his political associates over his selfish ambitions to remain afloat even with his seeming waning popularity among Benue people insisting that Ortom who was a product of the people has done well in the areas of education, security and infrastructure among others.
“If Akume says his issues with Ortom border on non performance, then please ask him what were the issues that made him to fall out with his former close political associates like Senators Iyorchia Ayu, Barnabas Gemade, David Mark, Professor Steve Ugbah, Alhaji Usman Abubarkar,
