A chieftain of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Abia state, Chief Ndukwe Ikoh, has advised the people of the state not to begrudge Governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji over his non-performance, saying that “he is still learning the art of governance.”
Ikoh, who gave the advice in a chat with newsmen, regretted that for over seven years the governor had been at helm of affairs, “there is nothing tangible to prove that he is a good leader.”
According to him, the present administration believes in telling the people half truths rather than ensuring that they benefit from democracy dividends.
He said: “A governor wakes up in the morning and tells himself that he is going to build an airport; when he says such thing, it is like playing on the intelligence of the people you claim to be governing because there is no conception, no commercial discussion, nothing whatsoever. But you go to the television and radio stations to show pictures of prototype designs of the airport you are going to build. It is a big deception.
“To me, there is dishonesty in a very high level in Abia. People think that politics is about telling lies. No! Politics is organising yourself in such a way to better the standard of life of the people you govern.
