8 killed in Gombe flood in 3 months

Deputy Director Rescue and Rehabilitation, Gombe State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs.
Lamis Benjamin has said, from May to August 2018, about 8 people have been killed and over 200 houses destroyed by flood in the state.
Mrs Lamis disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Gombe yesterday, adding that 3 persons lost their lives during a three hour heavy rainfall in Jekadafari, Nasarawo, Tudun Wada all in the state capital on May 27, 2018.
She said on 16 , 2018 five persons were killed by flood at Cham in Balanga local government area while 60 houses and livestock worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The Deputy Director added that, in Yaba and Komta in Billiri local government area, 80 houses were destroyed by flood on May 16, 2018.
Mrs. Lamis said that the agency has distributed about 1200 bags of maize to the affected communities in Balanga and Billiri local government areas.
