850 students, officials in Kaduna for secondary school games

 
As Kaduna state prepare for the 2020 National Sports Festival, 850 students and officials from secondary schools across the 12 educational zones have converged in Kaduna for the Kaduna state Inter Secondary Schools Sports Competition.
The four-day tourney, according to the Public Relations Officer, Kaduna state Ministry of Sports  Development, Mrs Jummai Nuhu, will feature four sports namely athletics, football, basketball and volleyball. 


“All is now set for the eagerly anticipated finals of the Kaduna State Inter Secondary Schools Sports Competition which will commence on Wednesday January 29, 2020 in Kaduna.
“Over 850 students and officials from 12 educational zones have arrived Kaduna on Tuesday for the schools sports fiesta.
“The youngsters, who qualified from the 12 educational zones in the state, will battle for the top prizes in four sports events, namely, football, basketball, volleyball and athletics in the four-day event.


“The Commissioner for Sports Development, Professor Kabiru Mato, has assured sports stakeholders of the readiness of the ministry to fast track sport development in the state.


“He congratulated the qualified teams and their schools and prayed for a hitch-free festival, noting that, “this is part of the ministry’s mandate and drive to resuscitate schools sports in the state”.
“The competition which is scheduled to hold from January 29 to February 1, 2020 will take place at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and the Kaduna Township Stadium,” Jummai said.
