98 gets free surgeries as NMA concludes outreach in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom state branch of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has carried out 98 Surgeries at the just concluded NMA/HENSEK  5day free medical outreach at general hospital Ikot Abasi.

According to the Chairman NMA , Dr Nsikak Nyoyoko, the surgeries included cases of Myomectomy, Caeserian Section, herniorrhaphy, Appendectomy, exploratory laparotomy, Ovarian cystectomy, Vaginal Hysterectomy, Lipoma Excision and Hydrocoelectomy. 

Dr Nyoyoko further revealed that over 3,000 patients were treated while 200 persons underwent dental procedures during the outreach.

He added that over 200 free eye glasses were also given out to patients.

He disclosed that apart from free surgeries, drugs were administered free, with deworming exercise for kids as well as HIV/AIDS test and counseling.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the outreach, the sponsor of the Programme ,Engr Uwem Okoko, Managing Director,HENSEK Integrated Services, said his company decided to sponsor the 6th edition outreach of the biannual medical outreach as a way of giving back to the society.

He thanked the medical personnel from the Nigerian Medical Association for their professionalism throughout the duration of the outreach while promising to always partner  with the association to save more lives in the future.
