Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Idris Wase has given assurances that the 9th National Assembly “will not let Nigerians down, especially the common man.”
The deputy speaker also reiterated his resolve to advance the improvement of the living standards of Nigerians “who always brace obstacles to come out and vote during elections.”
Wase gave the assurances Friday in Abuja while playing host to the Buhari/Osinbajo Social Media Support Group that paid him a courtesy visit.
He said left to him, the group shouldn’t be bothered about negative information, but that the concerns should be how to positively touch the common man in the streets.
“When it comes to election, the common man is always on hand to deliver on their civic duties,’ he said.
Wase recalled a campaign incident that happened in Jos, the Plateau state capital, during the presidential campaign where an overwhelming crowd of Nigerians trooped out to welcome President Muhammad Buhari.
He said he would support for the group, adding that “putting the right information out there is for the good of everyone, especially the children yet unborn.”
“It goes to show that Nigeria is producing more food than the population can actually consume which is why there is excess. But government will continue to promote local food production. Our covenant with Nigerians is to make their lives better.”
Earlier, the Editor-in-Chief of the group, Babatunde Adejumo, told the deputy speaker that they were in the House to “congratulate him on his elections both as a returning member and as the deputy speaker of the most populous nation in Africa.”
