9th Reps committed to interest of common Nigerians – Doguwa

Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Alhassan Doguwa has stated that the 9th assembly of the house is deeply committed to the interest of common Nigerians.

According to him, the insinuation that the current National Assembly would be a rubber stamp for the executive arm of government does not arise, “because you wouldn’t expect us to rubber stamp any proposal, which is not in tandem with the aspiration of Nigerians”.

Speaking Tuesday, Doguwa said the leadership under Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila was set to bring in a lot of transformations in its legislative businesses.

“It is going to be a transformative House, even in our relationship with government agencies”, the Leader stated, adding that consultations were on for a draft legislative agenda for the House.

Earlier, Grace Ike who is chairman of the press corps in the house, congratulated Doguwa on his appointment as Majority Leader, as she wished him a hitch-free tenure in office.

Also, she tasked the leader, to in collaboration with his colleagues, ensure the enactment of laws that would promote the welfare and safety of journalists in Nigeria.
