A 47-year-olTrader in court for allegedly stealing iPhone 7

d trader, Mary Peter, Wednesday appeared in a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an iPhone 7 worth N156, 000.

The police charged Peter, who lives in Ungwan Pama Kaduna, with theft.

The prosecution counsel, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 12, at a shopping Mall at Ungwan Pama, Kaduna state.

Leo alleged that the defendant stole an iPhone 7 valued at N156, 000, belonging to the complainant, Mr Dauda Chris of Ungwan Pama Kaduna State.

The prosecutor said that the complainant forgot his phone when he went to the shopping mall to buy some provisions.

Leo alleged that when the complainant realised and called the phone, a lady responded but later switched it off.

He said  the police traced the phone to the defendant and she was arrested with it.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 271 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

Magistrate Umar Ibrahim admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ibrahim adjourned the case until February 20, for hearing. (NAN)
