A’ Ibom boots civil servants with N29m housing loan

The Akwa Ibom state government said it has paid out over N29 million as loan to civil servants in the state through the Staff Housing Loan Scheme in 2013 and plans to pay N1 million each for 150 persons in 2014.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Elder Nse Ekefre, disclosed this yesterday during the presentation of the on-going progress reports by members of College of Permanent Secretaries.

He said: “Through the Staff Housing loan Scheme, Forty-Seven Urban Roads totaling twenty nine – kilometers have been completed as well as five water supply projects in some communities through the Community Based Urban Development Project”.
Elder Nse Ekefre also said that the Ministry has realized on investment income of over N82 million while the total market value of the ministry investment in equity portfolios of companies was N4.227 billion as at December 31, 2013.

The permanent secretary disclosed that more than N36 million has been recovered from some beneficiaries of the State Micro Credit Scheme while government has also saved over N54 million from Salary payment following verifications exercise carried out by the fund Monitoring Unit of his Ministry in 2013.
