A narrative of school life

School life is an important part of one’s life, because it provides opportunity for study and discipline. However, school life is a preparatory stage for entering public life. School plays an important role in widening the outlook of students. Virtues such as perseverance, sincerity, truthfulness, tolerance, discipline and obedience are developed in students. School is a meeting place for students and teachers. From here, a student learns how to adjust to society at later part of life. Th e school life is generally a period of youth. In school, all the students read in a spirit of togetherness. Th ey forget their joy and sorrow. Th ey read, play and sit together. In recent days their minds contain some youthful dreams which may come true as they grow up.

School is the right place for the fulfi llment of the youthful desires. Students take part in sports, drama, essay competitions, and other social activities. School also gives the foundation for career opportunities such as scientists, writers, doctors, engineers, painters and journalists. It is in school that students enjoy the aff ection of their teachers. Teachers act as guardians to students on the right path. In school, teachers try to remove the evil from the students by inculcating some seeds of good qualities in them. In library, debate class, social gathering and competitions, students get proper scope to improve their knowledge and style. Above all, in examinations they try to show their brilliant performance.

Th us they get opportunity to expand their horizon. School has defi nitely a healthy infl uence upon students. But some students indulge in bad deeds and get away from the impact of their teachers. Th ose students miss the charm of their school life. Jamilu Muhammad (Galax), a level 3 mass communication student, Bayero University, Kano, said, “school is a social institution, where people from diff erent social backgrounds come together and share ideas on career choice, personal experience and even family issues”. He noted that school has contributed 70% to who he is today. Ideally, school is a platform to experience so many things in the schools of diff erent thought that individuals may come across. However, it is better to follow the trend which will add value to your life to be a better person in future than the path to disaster.
